Laser Hair Removal
Many people find themselves in a never-ending battle with their unwanted hair. Hair removal treatments like shaving, waxing and depilatory creams take too much time and effort and often simply don’t work well enough. Happily, it doesn’t need to be this way. With painless laser hair removal, Glow Medspa can put an end to your battle with unwanted hair and give you permanent hair reduction.
Glow Medspa couples great service with innovative Alexandrite and Nd:YAG laser technology to provide a total hair removal solution. No more shaving, waxing, or depilatory creams—our premium hair removal treatment will give you the sleek, smooth skin you’ve dreamed of. Our Alexandrite lasers work with most skin types, but for people with darker skin and black hair, our high-tech Nd:YAG lasers are more appropriate. Some spas use IPL or Diode lasers, but Alexandrite lasers are simply better. In a process known as selective photothermolysis, Alexandrite lasers focus on the melanin in your hair follicle, keeping your skin safe.
What Is the Right Technology for Laser Hair Removal?
Glow Medspa proudly uses the Quanta 4v light system, the most advanced high-tech combination Alexandrite and Nd:YAG laser that the FDA has approved. The Quanta 4v’s Alexandrite laser emits a 755 nanometer (nm) wavelength beam that focuses on the melanin in your hair follicle, keeping your skin safe. The Quanta 4v’s Nd:YAG laser emits a longer wavelength at 1064 nm, which works best on people with dark or deeply tanned skin.
Due to these breakthroughs in laser technology, Glow Medspa can offer a safe, pain-free laser hair removal experience without irritation or discomfort—you will only experience a cool tingle. Our Medspa is a high-tech facility outfitted with the finest grooming and wellness amenities, which allows us to offer you the best in laser hair removal at a reasonable price.
The laser hair removal experience at Glow Medspa clears away not only exposed hairs, but ingrown ones as well. In addition, it is safe for every skin type and hair color. It is so safe, in fact, that it can be used on sensitive skin and even your most delicate areas
How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
Laser hair removal uses the principle of selective photothermolysis, which couples a distinct light wavelength and pulse duration to pinpoint the hair follicle while not affecting surrounding skin. These lasers remove hairs by damaging hair follicles. This is accomplished by heating the melanin in the hair follicle without heating the skin around it. Because dark objects absorb light, laser light is absorbed by melanin in the hair follicle at a high intensity.
After Laser Hair Removal:
Following your laser hair removal treatment, use Aquaphor® or Vaseline® to moisturize the treated area 3 times a day for 3 to 4 days. This will lessen both skin irritation and the possibility of folliculitis
Wear a moisturizing sunblock on the treatment area, a minimum of SPF 45
Do not bathe in hot water, either in a bathtub or hot tub. Instead, take cool or tepid showers. Do not scrub the treated skin. Pat the treated skin dry; do not rub with your towel
Do not swim in any body of water, including a swimming pool, for a minimum of 3 days
Stay out of the sun and stay away from tanning beds. If you must be outside, wear a sunblock of a minimum of SPF 45
For at least 24 hours, do not exercise or undergo any dynamic activity that can raise your body temperature or make you sweat
For at least 1 week, avoid products that may irritate the treatment area, including: toner, astringent, retinols or retinoids, medicated body or face wash, harsh soap, peel, scrub, or other exfoliating agent and do not scrub or rub the treated area
Ice packs, with a thin cloth such as a dishtowel between the pack and your skin, can help reduce any swelling, redness, or minor burns. Use them for periods of 3 to 5 minutes for 1 to 2 hours. In addition, apply 1% hydrocortisone and Aquaphor® or Vaseline® to the treated area a maximum of 3 times daily until symptoms subside.
For itching or even swelling, take oral liquid Benadryl®, Allegra®, or Claritin®, which are all available without a prescription, as needed for up to a week. These can also be taken before your next treatment, and you may apply Aquaphor® or Vaseline® then also.
You may see microcrusting of the treated area. If so, do not scrub or rub the skin. Instead, apply Aquaphor® or Vaseline® and call us for more information
Before Your Next Hair Removal Treatment:
Do not wax, tweeze or bleach or perform electrolysis for a minimum of 6 weeks before your treatment
Do not use any hair removal creams such as Neet or Nair for a minimum of 2 weeks before your treatment
12 hours before treatment, shave the treatment area in the direction that it grows. For areas you feel awkward about shaving, with finer hairs, you can trim the hairs with scissors close to the skin
Stay out of the sun! Avoid tanning beds and even casual sunshine. Also avoid spray tanning and self-tanning products. Apply sunscreen to the treatment area. There is a greater chance of adverse side effects for tan skin. You may have to reschedule the treatment
Remove all sunscreen and makeup from the treatment area before your appointment. You can reapply following treatment
For those with oral herpes, a.k.a. cold sores, you must begin an antiviral medication 24 to 48 hours prior to your appointment in order to stop an outbreak from occurring after your treatment. You will need to take the medication for 3 to 5 days following treatment
Anesthetic cream is available, but must be applied 30 minutes before your appointment time, so you will need to arrive at Glow MedSpa 30 minutes early
You are responsible for telling us if you are taking antibiotics or any other medications that can cause photosensitivity. Your appointment might need to be rescheduled if this is the case
Several treatments, often 3 to 8 weeks apart, are required for the reduction process, but you might need to come in sooner to allow the clinician to assess the treated area. In order to keep up with your hair’s normal growth cycle, ensure that you keep your follow-up appointments because this will greatly improve your results
Laser hair removal has not been studied in pregnant or breastfeeding patients. It is your responsibility to inform us of your health status and to cancel or reschedule your appointment as needed
If you have a social or work commitment immediately following your scheduled treatment that will interfere with your recovery time, please reschedule your appointment
