Restylane Defyne is a Hyaluronic Acid dermal filler as part of Galderma’s Restylane filler line. Restylane Defyne is perfect for patients who are looking to smooth away their “laugh lines”, the folds & wrinkles that form from the sides of your nose to the corners of your mouth. Restylane Defyne was also approved to help improve a patient’s profile, by contouring (shaping and sizing) the patient’s chin or cheeks. How Does Restylane Defyne Work?
Restylane Defyne is made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar found in the body that “gives the skin moisture, volume and elasticity”. The filler also contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic used to numb the area during injection to help relieve any discomfort during the treatment. Glow Aesthetic Center is also proud to use a specially formulated numbing cream for any patient who requests it at no cost to the patient. Because this filler is made of hyaluronic acid, it allows the filler to also be reversible in case the patient does not like the results as given by the filler.
How Long Will Restylane Defyne last?
Restylane Defyne is designed to last up to 2 years. However, this does not mean that in 2 years the filler will just disappear. It is normally metabolized by our bodies in a linear fashion, meaning that after 1 year the filler will most likely be 50% gone. If patients are looking to get the full results of the treatment, they are suggested to come back in periodically for an additional filler treatment.
Contraindications
- Patients who have a history of severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) should first speak to their primary doctors to see if a filler treatment might be an option for them.
- Patients who have an allergy to lidocaine should not receive this treatment.
- Patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding are recommended to not receive this treatment.
During Treatment
During treatment, an experienced Glow practitioner will strategically inject Restylane Defyne to the areas of concern in the patient. This can take as long as 2 hours to do dependent on the patient and the number of fillers the patient is choosing to treat with. Anytime a patient receives any type of treatment that relies an injection to the body, the chance of bruising may occur. This is unfortunately inevitable and if you are worried about bruising at any time after the treatment (due to an upcoming event or vacation), they are suggested to wait to receive the treatment until the worry is gone.
