Fillers have become an increasingly popular option for a number of cosmetic procedures. Whether you want to reverse the effects of aging or enhance your body shape, fillers are a wonderful option for getting the look you want. But sometimes you realize that the filler no longer suits your needs and you want to get rid of it… but is it possible? Here’s what you need to know.

What are fillers?

Fillers are an increasingly popular anti-aging treatment that results in younger looking skin. They achieve this by injecting hyaluronic acid into the chosen area to either add volume or smooth out lines. They are typically used for the face and lips and are not permanent.

Can you get rid of them?

If you end up being displeased with your filler or even just change your mind over time, you do have a couple of options available to you. The first is to simply wait; fillers are typically not permanent and need retouching periodically so you can wait for the effects of the filler to wear off.

However, if you find that you simply can’t wait and need the filler removed, then there is an option available to you too. By using Hylenex (Hyaluronidase Human Injection) , it is possible to get rid of the filler.

There are a few reasons why you may want to do this on top of just changing your mind. The nature of the filler means it’s possible for the hyaluronic acid to spill into adjacent areas and look uneven or form as lumps or bumps. In these cases, you would want to remove the filler.

What is the process to get rid of fillers?

In order to remove the filler, we use a solution called Hylenex (Hyaluronidase Human Injection) which is a soluble protein enzyme that can break down the hyaluronic acid that is used in most fillers like Juvederm and Restylane. It also encourages the body to absorb the broken down molecules which will ultimately remove the effects of the filler, returning the area to its pre-procedure state.

How long does it take for the filler to go?

Once the Hyaluronidase is injected into the right area, it will get to work immediately. In fact, it has a half-life of two and a half minutes so the initial effects get to work instantly. It will continue to have an effect for the next 24 hours and you should start to see results within 48 hours.

To help you avoid any panic, it’s important to know that even though the filler will likely be gone within 48 hours, you may have some residual swelling from the injection itself, but you can be assured in knowing that this too will dissipate before long.

Summary

If you do end up regretting your fillers for any reason, then that shouldn’t be a reason to panic. With Hyaluronidase, the filler can be a thing of the past after a couple of quick injections and you’ll look like your old self in no time.
