Dermal fillers are injectable treatments that help to reduce wrinkles and age lines while providing and restoring additional volume to the treated area. Commonly, people across the world use dermal fillers for areas like lips, hands, under the eyes, cheekbones, and even the buttocks. Fillers are used to combat the hormonal changes that we all go through as we age, which can result in the loss of skin tissue volume, wrinkles, sagging skin, and other signs of aging that you may not want to keep.

At Glow Aesthetic Center, we serve clients in Sherman Oaks with filler treatments from a variety of the top brands. Led by Dr. Homan Siman, our medical staff can assess your facial structure, learn more about your desired look, and recommend the best dermal filler for your specific needs. To schedule an appointment with our team, call (818) 905-8815 or fill out the form on our contact page. It’s time for us to give you the look you’ve been waiting for!

Exploring the World of Fillers

There are many different types of dermal fillers. Some are used in situations that only require a little tweaking. Others are for deeper wrinkles or can be used when a patient requires a significant amount of dermal volume. At Glow Aesthetic Center, we offer a variety of fillers and can discuss with you the option that best fits your needs.

Poly-L-lactic Acid

Poly-L-lactic acid is a compound that has been used for a long time in the medical world due to its ability to dissolve inside the body safely. For example, many internal medical stitches use this compound. For fillers, Poly-L-lactic acid works by stimulating your body’s own production of collagen (the protein that provides structure to your skin and other organs). Rather than act as the filling agent itself, Poly-L-lactic acid dissolves in a few days, leaving your body to produce long-lasting collagen. Results can last as long as two years before you start seeing a decline in your skin’s volume.

Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA)

This compound is found in your body naturally, specifically in the bones. The gel that holds these molecules in suspension when in dermal filler form is typically thicker than other types of fillers, providing you with additional volume. There is growing medical evidence that CaHA also stimulates the production of collagen, allowing your body to produce more tissue volume as well. Usually, CaHA is used in cases that require the filling of deeper wrinkles and age lines.

Hyaluronic Acid (HA)

This is the most common active ingredient in dermal fillers. It is a reliable treatment that uses a compound (HA) that is already produced inside your body. A key factor in the retention of moisture in the skin, hyaluronic acid fillers boost the production of this important molecule. Skin that is better moisturized can reduce sagginess and add firmer, plumper volume beneath the surface.

Where to Use Dermal Fillers

Fillers can be used in many areas of the body that lose volume over time. Some of the most common areas include:

  • Lips
  • Hands
  • Cheeks
  • Beneath the eyes
  • Buttocks

Depending on the area and severity of volume loss, you may prefer a different filler with different active ingredients. For example, the Sculptra fillers that we use at Glow Aesthetic Center for our Sherman Oaks filler treatments in the buttocks area contain Poly-L-lactic acid. It entices the layers of skin beneath the surface of your backside to start producing more natural collagen, giving you a “butt lift” without the need for invasive surgery.

On the other hand, our Juvéderm fillers use hyaluronic acid and are injected in areas like under the eyes, cheeks, and lips. Radiesse fillers available from Glow Aesthetic Center can be used in the hands. These are built around the active ingredient calcium hydroxylapatite.

After a full consultation with our skilled medical team, Glow Aesthetic Center will be able to advise you on the perfect dermal fillers for your needs.
