Woodland Hills Microneedling

Sun damage, acne scars, age lines…the list of features that can make your self-confidence drop is nearly endless. Luckily, microneedling is a therapeutic treatment that helps your body naturally combat these effects. When you get your Woodland Hills microneedling treatments from the experts at Glow Aesthetic Center, we design a plan for your specific problems. At your initial consultation, we’ll go over your beauty goals and devise a treatment plan that typically runs between four and six sessions.

If you are ready to reclaim the youthful glow that time has erased from your face, schedule a consultation with the Glow Aesthetic Center team today. You can reach us by calling (818) 905-8815 or by using our online form. Led by Dr. Homan Siman, Glow Aesthetic Center specializes in helping people in Woodland Hills and beyond boost their confidence, improve their appearance, and enjoy their reflections once again.

What Microneedling Is

As you might guess from the name, microneedling is a treatment that involves tiny needles. These needles make microscopic holes in your skin that are invisible to the naked eye. The result is that your body recognizes that some damage has occurred and begins to signal the production of increased amounts of collagen in the affected area.

Collagen is a protein in your body (actually, it’s the most abundant one!) that acts as the glue or scaffolding that holds your body together. It is most present in your skin and bones. By activating the production of more collagen, microneedling allows your body to heal itself naturally. The result is healthier layers of skin that are younger-looking, free of scars, and more elastic.

Issues that Can Be Helped by Microneedling Treatments

As we get older, our bodies tend to slow the production of collagen. It’s part of the aging process, but it results in saggy skin, uneven skin tones due to sun exposure, age or liver spots, wrinkles, and more. Through microneedling treatments, you can help reduce the presence of problematic features like:

Essentially, microneedling triggers your body’s natural healing response so that it will smooth out your face with new, healthy skin.

How Long Microneedling Takes to Produce Results

In the immediate wake of your microneedling session, you may see slight results. However, it is important to understand that the “finished product” may not be visible for several months. That’s because it takes time for the body to produce collagen and move those new layers of skin to the surface.

However, many clients start seeing significant improvement within a few weeks. In fact, 80% of participants studied by the Journal of Cutaneous and Aesthetic Surgery reported an “excellent” result after microneedling treatments.

Side Effects

One of the best parts of the microneedling procedure is that it requires little to no downtime. It is a minimally invasive procedure that is typically performed within half an hour, and it doesn’t result in you being laid up in bed for days. Your normal life can continue as usual. That said, there are some common side effects you should prepare for, including:

  • Redness
  • Slight swelling
  • Skin sensitivity

You should also plan on using ample sunscreen in the days following your microneedling treatment. This is because your skin will be more sensitive to sun damage as it heals. (Besides, using sunscreen is always a good idea in California!)

For those of us who are worried about needles, it’s time to put that fear to rest. Though the name “microneedling” might conjure up some unwanted images in your mind’s eye, the reality is that the procedure’s needles are incredibly small. In fact, an anesthetic is usually not needed, as the procedure is virtually painless. There should be NO bleeding afterward, no bruising, and no skin peeling.

Additional Steps to Take After Your Treatment

In the days following a microneedling treatment, it is common for the treated area to have some redness and swelling. It’s usually akin to a minor sunburn in color and sensitivity. While you can return to work the next day, many people are uncomfortable showing this redness to the public. Makeup is fine to use, and the redness should go away within a few days.

Scheduling New Treatments

At Glow Aesthetic Center, we tailor our Woodland Hills microneedling treatment plans to each client’s individual needs and beauty goals. Typically, we suggest packages of four to six treatment sessions, but your situation may call for more or fewer. You and your medical team, led by Dr. Homan Siman, will decide on the proper course for your goals and will schedule your next sessions accordingly.
