Your skin is your body’s largest organ, so it’s important to take good care of it. That’s especially true after a microneedling treatment session. Microneedling involves puncturing the skin, painlessly, with tiny needles. The result is that your body produces more collagen, which helps reduce wrinkles and age lines and provides that youthful glow and vibrancy. But, since microneedling punctures your skin, you might experience some redness and sensitivity after your session.
We recommend staying hydrated, adopting some new skin regimens to adjust for your sensitive skin, and avoiding harsh chemicals and scrubbers. Within about ten days, you should be able to return to a normal skincare routine.
If you are interested in microneedling sessions, schedule a consultation with the medical team at Glow Aesthetic Center, led by Dr. Homan Siman. Our team is ready to help you understand the process, get to know more about your cosmetic needs and goals, and create a treatment plan just for you.

Let’s go more in depth about the steps you can take to protect your skin after your treatment. Below are just a few general guidelines that you should follow.
Sunlight is wonderful, and California has plenty of it. But it’s important to make sure you’re not exposing yourself to harmful UV rays. Use at least 30SPF sunscreen when you go outside, and try to stay indoors during the hottest hours of the day.
Your daily skincare routine may involve products that aren’t great for sensitive skin. For about 10 to 14 days, we recommend not using any products that contain alcohol, such as toners. This can dry out your skin and cause damage.
For at least 72 hours after your microneedling session, try not to touch your face at all. You should especially refrain from applying makeup, sunscreen, or other potential irritants. If you need to apply moisturizers or Vaseline to reduce itchiness or dryness, that’s fine, but do not scrub, exfoliate, or massage the area roughly.
Swelling and discomfort can sometimes accompany a microneedling treatment in the days following your session. That’s because your body is healing and producing collagen. It’s a good thing! To help reduce swelling and discomfort, you can take some of the following steps.
In most cases, you will want to schedule multiple microneedling sessions in order to see the best results. These are typically scheduled about a month apart. When you come in for your initial consultation with the team at Glow Aesthetic Center, we will learn more about your cosmetic needs and goals, go over some of your medical history details, and craft a specific treatment plan to get you the results you’re looking for.
Some of the factors that can affect the number of microneedling treatments you’ll need include:
It takes time for your body to heal itself, and microneedling is dependent on your body’s own production of collagen. That means, if your body produces collagen at a slower rate, you might need to wait longer or have additional sessions in order to see the best results. Some effects can be seen immediately after treatment, while the effects can last up anywhere between 12 and 18 months after your last session. Then, you’ll need to schedule a touch-up appointment.
If you are suffering from age lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, or other signs of aging that just won’t go away, microneedling can use your body’s own processes to bring back your natural glow. Schedule a consultation on your microneedling treatment by clicking Book and Appointment, filling out the form on our contact page, or calling the Glow Aesthetic Center at (818) 905-8815.
Led by Dr. Homan Siman, our team is here to help you before, during, and after your microneedling treatments so that you can look your best, always.
