How Effective Is Sculptra?

Smiling young woman with clear skin, showcasing a natural beauty look while gently touching her face, against a neutral gray background.

Sculptra is an aesthetic medical treatment that uses Poly-L-lactic acid to restore volume to your butt. It’s a non-surgical option for people seeking a butt lift, and it has proven to be quite effective. According to Healthline, most clients who receive Sculptra treatments are happy with the results. Still, the effectiveness of any cosmetic procedure depends on a variety of factors, including:

  • The experience of your provider
  • Your lifestyle and daily skincare routine
  • Your age
  • The amount of stress you endure regularly

At Glow Aesthetic Center, you don’t have to worry about the first bullet in that list. Our medical staff, led by Dr. Homan Siman, has years of experience providing cosmetic treatments like Sculptra to our happy clients. If you are ready to recapture that plump buttocks of your youth, or replace that lost volume that can come with the aging process, schedule a consultation with our team today. Call our office at (818) 905-8815 to speak with a member of our staff. You can also schedule an appointment on our website.

Understanding Sculptra Treatments

Sculptra is a dermal filler that uses the active ingredient Poly-L-lactic acid, which has been used in medicine for decades (particularly in dissolvable surgical sutures). It is a biocompatible polymer, which means it is safe to use within our bodies. Typically, an injection of Sculptra dissipates after a few days, but its results can last up to two years. How is that possible? It all centers around how Poly-L-lactic acid works.

Stimulating Collagen Production

The way Sculptra works is by triggering the production of collagen within your body. Collagen is essentially your body’s “glue” protein. In fact, it is found in most structures within your body, including:

  • Skin
  • Bone marrow
  • Cartilage
  • Hair

Most of it, in fact close to 90%, is found in your skin. It provides structure and vitality, along with similar proteins like elastin. When you undergo a Sculptra treatment, our medical team injects the Sculptra formula into your buttocks’ soft tissue. The Poly-L-lactic acid is suspended in spheroid particles inside a safe gel substance. Your body builds collagen around these sphericals. Then, the Sculptra formula dissipates within a few days, leaving behind the collagen that your body has formed. Voilà! A natural, non-surgical butt lift!

Factors that Can Affect Sculptra’s Efficacy

Even though Sculptra has a solid rate of effectiveness, results can vary. Below are some of the factors that can change the results you experience.

Stress

Outside of the sun’s ultraviolet rays, stress is one of the leading causes of poor skin health. When your body has high levels of stress hormones like cortisol, it reduces the amount of collagen and other proteins that it produces on a regular basis. Lower levels of collagen means less impressive results.

Sunlight

One of the worst things for your skin is direct ultraviolet radiation from the sun. When you get a non-surgical butt lift with Sculptra, you might be tempted to show off the results at the beach or at the pool. That’s fine, as long as you use plenty of sunscreen (at least SPF 30). This blocks harmful rays from causing damage to your skin. You should also avoid going out into the sunlight during the hottest parts of the day.

Hydration

Water is an essential part of keeping skin healthy. Stay moisturized with the skin moisturizers our medical staff recommends. You should also drink the recommended 8 glasses of water every day. Skin that stays moisturized is healthier and usually produces better, longer-lasting results than skin that dries out.

The Permanency of Sculptra

No cosmetic treatment provides results that last forever, but Sculptra dermal fillers have a reputation as one of the longest-lasting treatments out there. Clients have reported results that last as long as, and sometimes even longer than, two years from the date of their first treatment!

Treatments with Sculptra tend to last longer and have more dramatic results if you start at an earlier age. The “golden age range” of Sculptra non-surgical butt lifts is between 25 and 45 years old. Regardless of your age, the team at Glow Aesthetic Center recommends scheduling touch-up treatments at least once every 18-24 months in order to maintain the youthful, plump, healthy look you’ve achieved.

Schedule Your Sculptra Treatment Today

If you’re ready to recapture the buttocks you’ve been missing, Sculptra might be the answer. Less expensive than surgical options, the effectiveness rate is very high and it is perfectly safe. In fact, the only real side effects are minor issues like slight discomfort at the injection sites, swelling, bruising, and small bumps you can feel (but not see) under the surface of your skin. All of these side effects disappear shortly after treatment.

You can schedule a consultation with our Sculptra treatment professionals by filling out the form on our Book an Appointment page. If you have additional questions or concerns, just call our office at (818) 905-8815 and a member of our team will be happy to help.
