Are you experiencing uneven skin pigmentation or extensive scarring that’s impacting your self-confidence? A Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel is an effective way to reduce hyperpigmentation, reduce the appearance of scarring and dark spots, and smooth your overall skin tone.
The Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel is a type of chemical peel that’s designed to improve skin hyperpigmentation, skin discoloration, scarring, and uneven skin texture. However, this procedure doesn’t end with your chemical peel.
There’s also an at-home component that requires you to use an aftercare cream. This cream is known as Cosmelan 2 and works to reduce your skin’s production of melanin.
Melanin is the pigment that colors your skin and is responsible for blotchy skin or issues with hyperpigmentation.
A Cosmelan peel can be used to manage a variety of conditions. Some of the issues that the peel will improve are:
The Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel isn’t limited to facial use. You can use is anywhere that you want to improve your skin’s texture or address hyperpigmentation, including the chest, face, hands, breasts, legs, and abdomen.
There are two phases of a Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel.
Phase 1 is completed in-office. After we clean and prep your skin, we apply the Cosmelan mask. You may experience mild stinging during the application process, but this shouldn’t last more than a few seconds or cause extensive discomfort.
You’ll wear the mask between six and twelve hours. How long you wear the mask depends on your specific skin needs.
Phase 2 consists of the at-home portion of the treatment. Using a gentle cleanser, you’ll remove your mask. Then, you’ll apply a product to sooth your skin and help it retain moisture.
Your skin will start peeling within two to three days of your appointment. While your skin is actively peeling, you’ll apply the Cosmelan 2 cream a few times a week.
A couple of weeks after your appointment, you’ll begin daily applications of the Cosmelan 2 cream.
You’ll likely need to take a few days off work until your peeling subsides.
The Cosmelan chemical peel is safe for all ethnicities and skin tones. You should avoid having a Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel if you’re nursing or pregnant.
Some skincare products aren’t compatible with the Cosmelan peel. For example, if you’ve used Accutane within the past six months, you should wait to schedule your appointment.
Or, if have recently had another peel treatment or laser therapy, your skin must have ample time to heal before scheduling a Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel.
One of the top benefits of using a Cosmelan peel to improve your skin texture and hyperpigmentation is that you’ll start seeing results within a few days.
Within a couple of weeks, you should see a noticeable difference in your complexion. Your results will continue to improve for the next couple of months. Expect your results to last approximately 6 months.
Your skin is extremely sensitive after a chemical peel, so avoid excessive exposure to UV radiation and wear sunscreen whenever you do go outside.
Since a Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel is a chemical peel, it’s normal to experience tight, itchy skin. You may have a little redness and discomfort that feels similar to a sunburn.
When completed by an inexperienced practitioner, the Cosmelan peel has a risk of scarring or infection. Ensure that your Cosmelan chemical peel is a safe, effective experience by sticking with a qualified practitioner, like those at Glow Aesthetic Center.
A Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel removes the top layers of your skin, revealing smooth, radiant skin with an even tone and texture. This makes it ideal for addressing multiple skin woes at the same time.
For example, if you have acne and hyperpigmentation, the peel will treat both of your conditions.
The peel offers lasting results and treats the underlying cause of your uneven or hyperpigmented skin (your body’s excessive production of melanin).
