The market is inundated with various anti-aging chemical peels created for nearly all skin types and tones, but not all peels will produce the same results. Among the newest chemical peels available at Glow Aesthetic Center in Encino is the Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel, which is a powerful tool to manage melisma, hyperpigmentation, and scarred or blotchy skin.
This singular chemical treatment is a compound of ingredients engineered to diminish hyperpigmentation and skin discoloration, which are caused by melanin. This peel inhibits an enzyme called Tyrosinase to lessen your skin’s natural melanin production, leading to a more even complexion.
This peel is not just for the face, either. It can also be effective in evening the skin tone and reducing dullness, dryness, acne scarring, blemishes, and dark spots on hands, abdomen, breasts/nipples, and legs.
Melasma is one type of discoloration; often caused by hormonal shifts, it is marked by gray or brown areas on the chin, cheeks, nose, and other areas of the face and body. Chloasma, which is related to melasma, is sometimes called the “mask of pregnancy.” Both melasma and chloasma can be erased with this peel.
This peel also corrects acne by lessening the skin’s oil production.

An ideal candidate would:

Your Consultation For Cosmelan
Before any treatment, you will have a private consultation with a Glow Aesthetic Center clinician during which your skin’s texture, tone, and structure of your face will be evaluated. Your medical history will be taken, and your wishes and goals for your skin will be discussed. Based on all this information, the clinician will then describe your best choices for treatments. If the clinician decides that the Cosmelan Peel will best accomplish your goals, a custom treatment plan will be generated.
What Is the Cosmelan Procedure Like?
The Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel is a treatment in two stages. The first stage is the stimulating mask that will be applied in our Aesthetic Center, which takes under an hour. In the second stage, you will continue to apply prescribed Cosmelan products at home.
At Glow Aesthetic Center
- A clinician cleans and preps your skin
- The clinician applies a deep layer of Cosmelan mask
- You may feel a slight sting that will quickly vanish
- The mask must remain on the skin for six to twelve hours, depending on how much correction is required
- The clinician will instruct you on what time and how to remove your mask at home
- Glow Aesthetic Center will provide you with a special aftercare kit
At Home
- At the specified time, you will remove the mask using a gentle, pH-balanced cleanser
- Next, you will spread Mesoetetic Hydra-Vital Factor K onto the skin, which will be comforting and moisturizing
- You’ll begin to see peeling two or three days after your mask was applied
- You will apply Cosmelan II cream two or three times per day for two weeks
- Once 14 days have passed, you may apply Cosmelan II once per day
- After the first 14 days, Cosmelan II can be applied once daily.
Results
You will see your blemishes start to fade within the first week, and your complexion begins to brighten. After two weeks, your skin will appear healthy and glowing. You will see your results continue to improve and, by the fourth or fifth week, you will see the complete benefits of the treatment. If you keep up your daily application of Cosmelan II, your results will last for several months.
Note: for the first 14 days, your skin will be sensitive. You should avoid being in the sun for long, and even if you spend just moments outdoors, you must always wear a full-spectrum sunscreen.
Possible Side Effects
You may experience mild to moderate discomfort and redness, like a sunburn. Your skin may also itch or feel tight. More serious side effects like scarring can happen. To lessen your chance of serious complications, use a trusted practice such as Glow Aesthetic Center; your skin is priceless and only the most experienced and expert clinicians should attend to it.
