PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) Therapy for Hair
Glow Aesthetic Center is proud to perform PRP therapy for men and women who choose to be proactive about their hair loss—without surgery. Why go under the knife to regrow your thinning hair when you can stimulate the growth with PRP therapy?
PRP therapy has grown out of the combination of a set of scientific studies along with new technology that has helped clinicians understand how tissues and wounds heal. PRP is used in order to stimulate the scalp and hair follicles. Best of all, the PRP used in your treatment comes from your own blood.
What Is the Evidence that PRP Works?
Korean clinicians published findings in Dermatologic Surgery that show that PRP is effective in stimulating hair growth. There are also a great many published studies from the United States and Europe that agree that PRP therapy is safe.
For more than twenty years, PRP therapy has been effectively used in combination with other therapies to aid in the healing of wounds and skin. In fact, a wide array of fields successfully use the therapy, including not only cosmetic surgery, but neurosurgery, oral surgery, orthopedics, and sports medicine.
When it comes to hair restoration, PRP therapy is still being studied as a great treatment option for the stimulation of hair growth. PRP therapy can be used alongside other therapies already approved by the FDA, including Minoxidil and DHT blockers. With the evidence we currently have, we can see that PRP therapy is a promising treatment option for people who have hair loss, without the hassle and healing time that surgery requires.
How Does PRP Work?
Because it contains platelets, your plasma has the ability to help regenerate your tissue and heal wounds. Platelets contain tiny structures like lysosomes, glycogen, and alpha granules. The granules are what give PRP its ability to cause both clotting and cell growth. These platelets stimulate the stem cells in your hair follicles, causing them to reawaken and begin growing hair again. Platelets also speed up both the degree and rate of regeneration and healing, plus help new cells form. PRP is used in hair restoration because it stimulates inactive hair follicles, pushing them to grow again.
How Is the Treatment Performed?
Here at Glow Aesthetic Center, you will have your blood drawn. Our clinicians place the blood sample into a sterile centrifuge where it spins until the plasma is separated from it. Then your clinician will inject PRP into your scalp.
What Can I Expect?
If you receive PRP therapy, you can drive home yourself because we do not administer any sedatives or other medications before, during, or after the treatment. The procedure lasts about one hour.
Why PRP Therapy?
PRP is a new treatment for hair loss that does not require surgery. PRP stimulates your hair follicles naturally, using your body’s own platelets. While bigger clinical studies are being performed, we can look to the studies that have already been published, as well as case reports and anecdotal evidence which all suggest that PRP is safe and effective.

This month we are having a very special promotion on our very own PRP hair treatment! By using your platelet rich plasma (prp) that we get from collecting your blood, we are able to stimulate the stem cells in your hair follicles, causing them to reawaken and begin growing hair again. PRP is used in hair restoration because it stimulates inactive hair follicles, pushing them to grow again. #prp #prphairrestoration #hairrestoration #plateletrichplasma #plasma #hair #hairgrowth #encino #medspa #medicalspa #venturablvd
