Sculptra has revolutionized cosmetic treatments with its non-surgical butt lift. A simple injection of collagen “seeds” that get the body to naturally increase your butt’s volume, Sculptra has helped many patients develop the body (and booty) of their dreams.
One commonly asked question is what to avoid after your Sculptra session. When you come in for a full consultation with the staff at Glow Aesthetic Center, we’ll give you a thorough rundown on what to expect. In general, take the steps listed below to ensure the best results after your treatment.

Medications to Avoid Following Your Sculptra Session
Before and after your treatment, make sure to avoid using any medications or pain relievers that contain blood thinners, as these can create bruising. This includes:
- Aspirin
- Ibuprofen
- Certain oils, like Cod Liver Oil
- Vitamins A and E
If you experience residual soreness from your treatment, use alternative painkillers such as acetaminophen or Tylenol.

Activities to Avoid After Sculptra
You’ll also need to limit some of the activities you engage in after your session. For example, avoid strenuous exercises for at least 24 hours. This is to help prevent bruising. You should stay out of the sun as well, lowering your exposure to direct UV rays.
For at least two to three weeks, stay away from tightening, laser therapy, or other procedures that affect your skin in the treatment area.
Skincare Routines Post-Sculptra Treatments
In the first few days after your session, try to steer clear of any topical ointments, creams, lotions, or other materials. Your skin will be sensitive, and it is best to avoid any possible irritants. After one week, you should be able to resume your normal skincare routine, such as post-shower lotioning and moisturizing, without the risk of irritation.

How to Reduce Swelling from Sculptra
This treatment involves simple, non-surgical injections of collagen seed material into the buttocks. It is virtually painless and requires no downtime from your life. However, swelling and bruising can occasionally occur.
If you experience swelling or slight discomfort, apply an ice pack for brief moments (no longer than a few minutes at a time). You can also massage the area for five minutes before taking a break.
Another solution is Arnica gel. Research suggests that Arnica can be used to fight:
- Swelling and inflammation
- Bruising
- Pain

Can You Drink Alcohol After Your Treatment?
Another popular question is how soon after getting a Sculptra injection you can drink. In general, alcohol is a product to avoid after any injection, medical treatment, or surgery. This is because it can cause inflammation and may even interact with particular compounds in the medicine.
With Sculptra, you don’t have to worry about alcohol interacting negatively with the poly L lactic acid in the injection. However, you should still wait at least 24 hours before imbibing to help reduce inflammation.
You Can Return to Normal Life After a Sculptra Treatment
Though you will want to avoid specific activities like those listed above, you generally should not experience any significant downtime after your Sculptra session. You can drive yourself home, return to work, and go about your business as usual.
You should start to see results soon after your treatment, and those results can last well over two years!
